Loose kerb leads to non-result in Race 3

A loose piece of kerbing has stopped the third Haltech V8 SuperUtes Series race at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Ryco 24.7’s Adam Marjoram and opening race winner Sieders Racing Team driver David Sieders made it an all-Mitsubishi Triton front-row, but it was the former making the best jump out of the pair.

But it was the Go Sunny Solar Holden Colorado of George Gutierrez making the best start to make it three-wide alongside Sieders and Ben Walsh into Turn 1, but all were behind Marjoram.

The field made it through Turn 1 clean, but Walsh in the Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota Hilux speared off after contact.

There was a further drama exiting Turn 5 as Walsh’s teammate Craig Woods was tapped by the similar Abcor Racing Hilux of Rohan Barry, which in a concertina spun Chris Formosa in the Allgate Motorsport Ford Ranger.

Meanwhile, the ACDelco Holden Colorado of serries leader coming into the round Aaron Borg climbed from 15th after a DNS in Race 1 to be fifth.

A second spin for Formosa caused by a piece of kerb coming loose led to a safety car to enact repairs, but the race failed to restart leading to a non-result.

This ended a tight battle between Marjoram and Gutierrez for the lead.

The fourth and final race for the Haltech V8 SuperUtes Series at The Bend Motorsport Park is scheduled to start at 2:25pm AEST (1:55pm local time).
